Bhopal Man 'Strangles Wife, Burns Her Remains' Over Infidelity Suspicion

The 22-year-old woman had been staying at her parents' home after her relationship with her husband turned sour.

A Madhya Pradesh man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife to death over suspicions of infidelity. The incident took place last week in Bhopal. After killing his wife, suspect Nadeem Uddin, 26, allegedly carried the body in his autorickshaw to a dumpyard, where he burnt the body and buried it. While the alleged murder happened on May 21, Nadeem Uddin was arrested on Saturday, Nishatpura police station sub-inspector M.D. Ahirwar told PTI.

Police have reportedly recovered some unburnt remains of the 22-year-old victim and sent them for examination.

Relationship Turned Sour

The woman, Ahirwar said, had been staying at her parents' home after her relationship with her husband turned sour. Her parents lodged a police complaint after she went missing on May 21.

During the investigation, police brought in her husband, who reportedly admitted to have killed her. The accused told police he suspected that his wife was in a relationship with another man, Ahirwar said.

How the Crime Unfolded

On May 21, the accused called his wife on her mobile phone and asked her to come to Karond Crossing.

When she met him, the accused took her mobile phone, Ahirwar said, adding that one of the videos stored in the device made him angry. He then strangled the woman in a fit of rage, Ahirwar said.

According to a PTI report, he took the body in his autorickshaw to a spot about 2 km away and burnt it after pouring kerosene on it.

The accused has been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 302 (murder), among others. Ahiwar said police are interrogating the accused and conducting further investigation into the case.

Delhi Man Arrested For 'Murdering Wife'

Meanwhile, on May 31, a Delhi man was also arrested for allegedly strangling his 22-year-old wife in south Delhi. At 12.38 pm, the Vasant Kunj South police station received a call regarding a murder, following which a police team rushed to a local house where the woman was found dead, an IANS report said.

The deceased was identified as Pooja, a resident of Delhi's Rajokri. Initial inquiry revealed that Pooja got married to the suspect, a man named Abhishek, about a month ago, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Southwest, Rohit Meena said.

This was the second marriage for both. While Abhishek had no children, Pooja had a son from her first marriage. "Prima facie, a matrimonial dispute seems the reason for murder. From the initial examination of the dead body, it has been found that the death is due to strangulation," the DCP was quoted as saying by IANS.

The DCP added that the duo met through a matrimonial site. Police said the marriage was in trouble from the beginning.
