Delhi: Catering Staffer Beaten To Death By DJs After Quarrel Over Food Plates At Function

The incident happened during the night of February 8 and February 9.

An altercation over dinner plates at a gathering in Rohini's Sector-12 resulted in the accused murder of a 48-year-old catering employee by two members of the DJ's crew, according to police on Thursday, news agency PTI reported.

The incident happened during the night of February 8 and February 9. According to a senior police official, the altercation behind Sawariyan Tent near Japanese Park in Sector-12 of Rohini was reported to the Prashant Vihar police station at 12:58 am.

When police arrived, they discovered that a guy who had been hurt during the altercation had been transported to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital by his companions, where doctors had already pronounced him dead, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Garg.

Sandeep Thakur, a resident of Prem Nagar in Kirari and a member of the catering staff, was named as the victim, according to the report.

Police claim that Thakur was assaulted by two men when he failed to provide plates for partygoers who were with the DJ.

He got into a confrontation with two other individuals and was struck in the head by a plastic crate, according to Garg.

At the Prashant Vihar Police Station, a complaint has been filed under Indian Penal Code sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common purpose), according to them.

Four persons were present at the scene when the altercation took place, according to the investigation so far, according to the police.

The roles of all the suspects are being determined while two of them are being questioned. To find the two suspects who have fled, many teams have been formed, according to the police.

The deceased's older brother, Arjun Thakur, said that the hospital had informed them of the occurrence.

"We received a call from the hospital regarding his death. The hospital authorities called us from Sandeep's mobile phone. He used to work as a catering staff in parties. We never thought that this would happen," Arjun Thakur was quoted by PTI in its report.

"My brother is survived by his wife and five children -- three daughters and two sons. His two daughters are married. We have faith in police investigation. We are hopeful that we will get justice," he added.
