Bengal Teen Kidnapped By Friends For Ransom To Buy Computer, Killed After Being Fed Rasogulla, Cold Drinks
The police suspect that the three teens realised that the boy’s mother might not be able to pay the ransom amount and so killed the boy fearing they will be caught by the law enforcers.
Three teenage boys allegedly kidnapped their 14-year-old friend in Krishnanagar's Ghurni area in West Bengal's Nadia district for ransom to buy a computer to play games but strangled him to death after feeding him rasogulla and cold drinks, said the police on Sunday. The body of the boy, tied in a sack, was recovered from a pond in Hijuli area on the outskirts of Krishnanagar city on Saturday, as per a PTI report. The trio was nabbed by the police and produced before a juvenile court in Krishnanagar on Sunday.
"The deceased, a resident of Ghurni and a class 8 student, had gone missing on Friday afternoon while going to a nearby shop to buy some items. His mother received a ransom call of Rs 3 lakh on Saturday morning, following which she informed the Kotwali Police Station,” said a police officer, according to the report.
"We nabbed the trio, who are class 10 students of the same school the deceased studied in and are also local residents. They confessed to killing the boy and dumping his body in a pond," he said, adding further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the police officer added.
The deceased’s father had died a long ago and his mother works as an ‘aaya’ (cargiver) while the mother-son duo stayed at their maternal uncle's house, the report stated quoting sources.
In another incident from Rajasthan, three teeagers drowned in a village pond in Karauli district on Sunday, said the police, The incident took place in Khirkhadi village when the trio went near the pond to graze buffaloes, they added, as per another PTI report.
While one of them slipped into the water, the other two jumped to save him, however, all of them eventually drowned, said Todabhim SHO Brijesh Meena. The deceased have been identified as Rinku Bairwa, Yogesh Bairwa and Manoj Bairwa, all aged between 15-16 years, he said, adding their bodies have been handed over to their families after post-mortem.
