AMU Student Kills Parents With Scissors And Steam Iron, Arrested: Police

According to the police, the AMU student killed his parents. The post-mortem report revealed that the couple attacked multiple times with scissors and the steam iron.

A 24-year-old man is accused of killing his parents after attacking them with a pair of scissors and a steam iron at their residence in Aligarh's Zakir Nagar on Wednesday night. The police identified the accused as Ghulamuddin, a B.Com student at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

According to a report by The Indian Express, the police informed that Ghulamuddin used to sleep in the same room as his parents. He first attacked his father, 60-year-old Ishaq Ali with scissors and then his mother Shehzadi Begum, aged 57, they said.

When the parents raised an alarm, Ghulamuddin locked the room from the inside, the police said. His siblings reached the spot from another room and tried to intervene. but the couple died on the spot, the report mentioned the police as stating.

Some neighbours and the family’s landlord reported the incident to the police. Ishaq Ali and Shehzadi Begum’s eldest daughter, 26-year-old Nasreen, registered a police complaint against her brother at the Quarsi police station in Aligarh, The Indian Express reported. 

According to the police, the post-mortem report revealed that the couple was attacked multiple times with scissors and the steam iron.

“We have recovered the murder weapons. We are trying to ascertain the reason for which he killed his parents but he told us that he feared that his parents would kill him and committed the crime to save himself. A forensic team is also collecting evidence,” Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani said, as quoted by the report.

The accused was sent to judicial custody after being produced in a local court on Thursday, The Indian Express reported the police as informing.

In another such shocking case in Jammu and Kashmir, an alleged drug addict allegedly killed his mother in Baramulla district. As per the police, the incident took place in Dangarpora area of Sopore township of the north Kashmir district Wednesday night.

“The killing is a pure case of influence of drugs. The accused is a staunch drug addict. He has confessed to the murder,” a police officer said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
