Kochi: A 25-year-old YouTuber, Muhammed Nishal, has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman whom he had befriended through social media.

The accused was arrested by the Kalamassery police from Kozhikode on Saturday, PTI reported citing a police statement.

The YouTuber had raped the married woman twice after threatening to post her objectionable videos and photos on social media, as per the complaint. He also threatened to send those videos and photos to her husband.

Police probing the case said there are similar cases against the accused in various police stations. The YouTuber was produced before a local court which remanded him to judicial custody, the statement added.
