Video Shows Burnt Pieces Of Rs 500 Notes Near Justice Yashwant Varma's Residence — WATCH
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) sanitation workers involved in cleaning the area reported finding charred Rs 500 notes while cleaning outside Justice Varma’s bungalow.

Ever since the discovery of cash was made at the residence of a Delhi High Court judge following a fire on March 14, the Supreme Court has taken a tough stance on the matter, calling for an internal inquiry in the matter.
The purported discovery of a huge stash of cash happened after a fire was reported at Justice Yashwant Varma's Lutyens' Delhi residence at around 11:35 pm on the night of Holi, prompting the fire department personnel to rush to the spot and douse the flames.
In a statement on Friday, the Supreme Court said the Delhi High Court chief justice had initiated an in-house inquiry against Justice Varma and there was been a proposal to transfer the judge to the Allahabad High Court.
Meanwhile, Delhi High Court's Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya has submitted a report to Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna in connection with the alleged discovery of cash.
Video have surfaced online showing the burnt currency notes that were found near the premises of the judge's house.
Meanwhile, the video uploaded on the Supreme Court's website and shared by Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora with Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya shows Delhi Fire Services (DFS) fire fighters dousing the flames on articles that apparently included half-burnt Indian currency notes. The video has gone viral on social media.
However, Justive Varma expressed shock at the photos and videos attached in the report claiming it did not match what he saw on-site and dismissed the video evidence as "conspiracy".
More Burnt Notes Discovered
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) sanitation workers involved in cleaning the area reported finding charred Rs 500 notes while cleaning outside Justice Varma’s bungalow.
When the cleaning staff arrived on Sunday (March 23), they discovered more burnt currency. A sanitation worker, Surender, said that over the past 4-5 days, they have repeatedly found charred Rs 500 notes.
Another worker, Indrajit, corroborated these findings, explaining that while collecting garbage in the area, they stumbled upon small burnt fragments of Rs 500 notes.
“We have been working in this circle for a while. About four to five days ago, while cleaning, we found some burnt pieces of ₹500 notes. Today, we found one or two more pieces. We don’t know where the fire started; we only collect the garbage,” he said.
