Summer Holiday Trip Turns Fatal As Ahmedabad Children Drown In Gujarat River
Six children drowned in a river in Kanij village, Mehemdabad. Four were from Ahmedabad, visiting relatives and two were locals.

Ahmedabad News: A holiday trip for six children turned fatal after they drowned in the Meshwo river in Kanij village, Mehemdabad taluka, Gujarat. Four of the children were from Ahmedabad, visiting their maternal uncle's home for the holidays. The other two children were locals.
On Wednesday, April 30, nine children went to take a dip in the Meshwo river when six of them found themselves unable to swim in the deep waters. Three children attempted to help but were unsuccessful. In a single evening, the summer holiday fun turned to tragedy for their families.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local MLA Arjun Singh Chauhan, district collector Amit Prakash Yadav, and Kheda District Police chief Rajesh Gadhia arrived at the scene. After a three-hour struggle by locals and a fire department team, the bodies of the six children were recovered from the river and taken to the Mehemdabad government hospital for post-mortem examination.
