Sudden Hairfall Leaves Many Bald In This Maharashtra Village, Survey Begins To Find Reason

Water samples from these villages were also being sent for tests to check for possible contamination.

A mysterious case of hair loss has surfaced in several villages in Maharashtra's Buldhana district where several people have complained of sudden hair fall leading to baldness within a few days. Authorities have swung into action and begun testing local water sources for possible contamination.

A health department team started a survey in the villages on Tuesday after the matter came to light. It has begun medical treatment of the affected people, PTI reported quoting Shegaon health officer Dr Deepali Bahekar.

A survey by the Zilla Parishad's health department found 30 persons from Kalvad, Bondgaon and Hingna villages in Shegaon taluka. The department has started medical treatment of the patients as per the symptoms, and advice from skincare specialists is also being taken, Bahekar said on Tuesday.

Water samples from these villages were also being sent for tests to check for possible contamination, a zilla parishad health official said.
