Pune Man Stabs Wife To Death, Posts Video Showing Remorse On Office Social Media Group

A man from Pune stabbed his wife to death with scissors after an argument and posted a video expressing remorse over his act on his office social media group.

A man allegedly stabbed his wife to death with a pair of scissors in Pune's Kharadi area, said the police on Thursday. Following the murder he shot a video of himself expressing remorse and sent it to his office social media group, the cops said.

The incident took place at 4:30 am on Wednesday after an argument broke out between Shivdas Gite (37) and his wife Jyoti Gite (27), according to an official.

During the argument, Shivdas attacked Jyoti with a pair of scissors and stabbed her in the throat, the official said, reported PTI.

Alerted by her shouts for help, her neighbours rushed her to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. Shivdas then shot a video of himself on his phone, expressing remorse over his act and posted it on his office group, the official added.

The accused has been arrested for murder, as per the official.

The family originally belonged to the Beed district of Maharashtra and lived in a rented house in Kharadi. While the accused worked as a stenographer at Shivajinagar court, the victim worked as a housemaid and did tailoring work, according to Hindustan Times.

Shivdas had been working as a stenographer for the last three years. Stenographers are supposed to qualify for an exam every three years to continue their work. However, Shivdas had recently failed the exam.

He approached his seniors for another chance to pass the exam and was granted the opportunity. According to the probe, he had also borrowed money for repairing his home in Beed.

His wife was concerned about the family's financial situation and forced the accused to study well to qualify for the exam.

“There was an argument between the husband and wife which escalated on Wednesday and in a fit of rage, Shivdas killed his wife," said Sanjay Chavan, a senior police inspector from Chandannagar police station.
