The family originally belonged to the Beed district of Maharashtra and lived in a rented house in Kharadi. While the accused worked as a stenographer at Shivajinagar court, the victim worked as a housemaid and did tailoring work, according to Hindustan Times.
Shivdas had been working as a stenographer for the last three years. Stenographers are supposed to qualify for an exam every three years to continue their work. However, Shivdas had recently failed the exam.
He approached his seniors for another chance to pass the exam and was granted the opportunity. According to the probe, he had also borrowed money for repairing his home in Beed.
His wife was concerned about the family's financial situation and forced the accused to study well to qualify for the exam.
“There was an argument between the husband and wife which escalated on Wednesday and in a fit of rage, Shivdas killed his wife," said Sanjay Chavan, a senior police inspector from Chandannagar police station.
