Another Hit-And-Run In Pune As Audi Kills Delivery Agent, Injures 3 Others
The driver, identified as Ayush Tayal, fled the accident site but was detained and a case has been registered.
A food delivery agent was killed and three others injured after an Audi car rammed two bikes in a span of a few minutes in Maharashtra's Pune late Thursday, said the police.
The accused driver, who fled the accident spot, and who detained shortly, reported India Today.
The accident took place between 1:30 am and 1:35 am in Tadi Gutta Chowk when the Audi first hit three people riding a scooter. The riders sustained minor injuries as they fell from the scooter. Shortly after, the luxury car rammed another bike, severely injuring Rauf Akbar Sheik, a delivery agent with Swiggy.
Sheikh was taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The accused driver, Ayush Pradeep Tayal was detained by the police later. Tayal, 34, is a resident of Hadaspur and was nabbed after being identified through CCTV footage in the area. The Audi that was involved in the twin accidents was also seized.
"...A two-wheeler was hit by a four-wheeler. The person on the two-wheeler was admitted to a hospital where he died under treatment. We have filed a case. We have detained the four-wheeler driver," said R Raja, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5-Pune City Police, reported ANI.
"Investigation is underway...Prima's face, he seemed to be driving an Audi car. We have sent him for a medical examination, report is awaited...," he added.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident at Mundhwa Police Station under BNS Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 132, 119,1 77, 184, as per a Hindustan Times report.
The case comes just months after a similar hit-and-run incident in the city. On May 19, a drunk 17-year-old boy rammed his Porsche into a bike carrying two IT professionals killing both of them.
The case garnered much attention and outrage after the accused minor got bail within 15 hours with the court setting some conditions including writing a 300-word essay on road accidents.
