Woman Torso Found: The gruesome murder of a young woman in Pune has shaken the city. The murder came to light on Tuesday, when just the torso of the woman was recovered along the bank of the Mutha river in Pune. The limbs and the head of the woman are missing, according to the police.
The torso of the woman was discovered by the Mutha bank by workers of Jenny Construction, who were working on a project in the Kharadi area. The workers told the police that they had found the woman's torso on the bank of the river and it had no hands and legs. The head was missing too, they said.
Police suspect the woman was murdered and her body was chopped into pieces, which were then dumped into the river. The brutality was to destroy evidence and prevent identification of the body, police believe. While the torso was swept onto the bank of the river, the limbs and the head remained untraceable.
The police are yet to identify the victim, but said that she was probably between 18 and 30 years. A case has been registered against an unknown accused at the Chandannagar police station.
