NEET Aspirant Kills Mother With Iron Rod, Injures Father When Scolded Over Phone Addiction In MP
The man was initially booked for the attempted murder of his parents. However, after his mother’s death, the charge of murder was also added.
A 20-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly killed his mother and injured his father after they scolded him for excessive mobile phone usage in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district.
The man attacked his parents multiple times on the head with an iron rod around 11 pm on March 3, leaving them unconscious and bleeding profusely. His mother succumbed to the injuries, while his father was critical at a hospital.
"It was around 11.15 pm on 3 March that the Dial 100 received information about the incident, and a first response vehicle (FRV) rushed to the spot. On learning about it, we also reached the location. The severely injured couple was taken to the nearby Civil Hospital, but due to their critical condition, they were referred to a hospital in Gondia, Maharashtra, for life-saving treatment," the New Indian Express quoted Waraseoni Sub-Divisional Officer Abhishek Choudhary.
Man Spent 5-6 Hours On Phone
The man was initially booked for the attempt to murder of his parents. However, after his mother’s death, the charge of murder was also added.
The accused admitted to spending up to 5-6 hours at a stretch on the mobile phone. He reportedly isolated himself in his room and had very few friends due to his addiction, the report added. His parents frequently urged him to focus on his studies.
Also, his parents had enrolled him in a private coaching centre in Kota in May 2024, but he left after four to five months.
