Mumbai Student's Attempt To Hide Thailand Trip From College Lands Her In Another Trouble At Airport

The student was trying to hide her Thailand trip from her institute that she undertook in February.

Mumbai News: A fashion merchandising student was stopped at Mumbai airport on Thursday while she was trying to board a flight to Singapore. The student was identified as SS Ghatol, 25, who was travelling on a tourist visa to fulfill an internship sponsored by her college based in Worli.

Police said that immigration officials discovered four missing pages in her passport, as per a Times of India report. Ghatol had mutilated her passport to hide from her institute a trip to Thailand she had undertaken from Feb 11 to 14.

During that period, a police officer said that she had requested exemption from an exam, claiming that she was unwell.

Speaking on the matter, Assistant Immigration Officer Sujit Patil said that Ghatol feared her deception would be discovered when the institute asked her to submit her passport after she was shortlisted for the internship in Singapore, as per the TOI report. Ghatol has been charged with cheating and violations under the Passport Act.

In a separate incident that took place earlier this month, Rahul Gopal, a youth from Kerala who arrived from Germany was nabbed by the Delhi Police soon after he landed at the IGI Airport as there was a look out notice against him issued by the Kerala Police, as reported by news agency IANS.

Later, Gopal was let off after the Delhi Police got in touch with the Kozhikode Police who informed that there was a Kerala High Court order saying that Gopal should not be arrested till the court hears his case. Gopal had fled from his hometown Kozhikode in May this year soon after his wife and her parents registered a case against him and his mother and sister for domestic violence.

The woman and Rahul, 29, an aeronautical engineer hailing from Kozhikode and working in Germany, got married on May 5, but she alleged that she faced a terrifying time at his hands at his house on the night of May 11, IANS reported.

When her family came to her in-laws place on May 12, her travails surfaced and after persuasion she told her mother how she was beaten and almost strangulated with a mobile charger by Rahul.
