Mumbai Horror: Man Befriends 13-Yr-Old Girl On Social Media, Later Kidnaps And Rapes Her; Arrested
According to police sources, the accused and the 13-year-old victim had talked on social media, following which the two decided to meet in Andheri.
As Maharashtra's Thane district witnessed massive protests over the sexual assault on two four-year-olds in Badlapur, another incident of the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in Mumbai has come to the fore.
According to a report by NDTV, the 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in Mumbai whom she met on social media. A case has been registered at the Vakola Police Station against the 21-year-old accused for kidnapping and raping the minor under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
The police arrested him from Goregaon where he lived.
The accused worked in a hotel and had talked to the victim on social media, following which both of them decided to meet, the report stated citing police sources. He took the victim to a place in Andheri where he allegedly raped her.
On August 15, he told the minor that he was taking her to a village but instead took her to Gujarat where he raped her again.
The complaint stated that the accused raped her three more times there, the report said.
After several days passed, the family of the victim got worried as their daughter had not returned home. They started looking for her but could not find her. The victim returned home on her own after a few days but remained quite. It was only after he family questioned her that she told them about her ordeal.
Thereafter, the family identified the accused from the photos posted on his Instagram account. They took the victim to the nearest police station and informed the police about the incident with the minor.
Earlier this month, Thane district witnessed massive uproar as the news about the two four-year-old's sexual assault was brought to light. The agitated parents took to the streets and gradually hundreds of protestors blocked the Badlapur railway station for over eight hours.
As the protests became violent, at least 17 city police personnel and eight railway cops were injured in stone-pelting at the railway station and other parts of Badlapur.
Thane Police and Government Railway Police have registered four FIRs against 500 protestors who blocked the railway station on Tuesday. Atleast 72 people, including women have been arrested so far.
