Mumbai Guard Arrested For Molesting 9-Year-Old Girl On Guise Of Showing Pigeons
After the girl’s mother came to know about the incident on March 12, she immediately rushed to the police and filed a complaint.

A 51-year-old security guard in the Goregaon area of Mumbai was apprehended for molesting a nine-year-old girl on a terrace of the building where he took her on the guise of showing pigeons, the police stated on Sunday.
The guard had gained the girl's trust over several weeks, as she would visit the building for private tuition. He then lured her to the terrace, claiming he would show her pigeons, and committed the abuse on March 7.
The incident came to light a week later when the girl suddenly refused to go to the building and take her tuition class, police said, news agency IANS reported.
Following the inquiry by the girl's mother, she described the whole incident and expressed fears of the repetition, police added.
After the girl’s mother came to know about the incident on March 12, she immediately rushed to the police and filed a complaint. Later, a medical test of the girl was conducted.
Official reported that Goregaon police arrested him and filed a case against the guard under the molestation and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The security guard was arrested after police reviewed CCTV footage of the building and conducted an identification parade, ensuring that the victim and the accused did not come into direct contact, an official confirmed.
Data reveals that Mumbai Police register an average of six cases of child sexual abuse daily involving victims aged 4-16. In 2023, the city recorded 1,005 cases of molestation and abuse under the POCSO Act within the first 11 months.
School’s Contract Worker Sexually Assaulted Two Minor Girls In Thane
The Goregaon incident has brought back memories of a similar case in Thane last year, where a school’s contract worker sexually assaulted two minor girls.
Akshay Shinde, 24, was accused of abusing two young students in a school toilet in Badlapur. The contractual sweeper was arrested on August 17, five days after the alleged assault.
Shinde later died near the Mumbra bypass in Thane when, according to police, he attempted to snatch a policeman’s gun while being transported in a police vehicle during an investigation related to a case filed by his former wife.
