Meghalaya Murder Case: First Picture Of Weapon Used To Kill Raja Raghuvanshi Surfaces

Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old Indore-based businessman, was murdered last month while he was on his honeymoon. Police have arrested 5, including his wife, Sonam, for their role in his murder.

The image of the weapon used in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based transport businessman, was murdered while honeymooning in Meghalaya last month,has surfaced. The murder weapon is a type of machete called a 'dao'.  

Following his murder, police arrested five people, including Raja Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam (25) and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha (20), for their alleged involvement in the 29-year-old victim. They are currently in the Meghalaya police's custody, and an SIT is investigating the case.

Initially, police suspected other three accused, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi, to be hired killers. However, they were kater found to be friends with Kushwaha, who worked at Sonam Raghuvanshi's father's shop.

Sources told ABP that  Raja was attacked multiple times with a machete. The first blow was inflicted by arrested accused Vishal. Blood stains were also found on  another accused Akash’s shirt since the victim tried to defend himself during the attack. 

Further investigation revealed that the accused had purchased the weapon near the Guwahati Railway Station.

In another development, Raja Raghuvanshi's elder brother on Monday demanded that a narco-analysis test be done on prime accused Sonam's parents, saying that the family suspects the involvement of more people in the murder.

"We want a narco-analysis test on Sonam, her parents, brother Govind and sister-in-law," Raja's elder brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi said, as reported by news agency PTI.

"New videos related to the murder are surfacing one after the other. We believe more people might be involved in my younger brother's killing," he added.

Sonam, who is accused of getting her husband killed during their honeymoon with the help of Kushwaha and three others, had emerged in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur, around 1,200 km away from the crime spot, in the early hours of June 9 and surrendered before police. She had been untraceable since the couple was reported missing on May 23. 

Raja's body was recovered near Weisawdong Falls on June 2.
