Husband Puts Spy Cameras In Bathroom To Record Wife, Blackmail Her In Pune

The accused demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from her parents to pay a car loan. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her and threatened to make the intimate footage viral if his demands weren't met.

A Maharashtra government officer has alleged that her husband installed spy cameras in their bedroom and bathroom to secretly record her private moments, and harassed her physically and mentally over dowry demands.

According to the complaint filed at Ambegaon police station, the accused, also a government employee, demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from her parents to pay car loan instalments. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her and threatened to make the intimate footage viral if his demands were not met.

Police have registered a case against the husband, his mother, three sisters, and the husbands of two of the sisters under sections 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives) and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other relevant provisions.

The 31-year-old woman stated she had been facing continuous physical and mental harassment from her husband and his family since the marriage, police said.

“A probe into the allegations is underway,” a police officer confirmed.

Police Officer Allegedly Rapes Woman, Blackmails Her In Jhansi

In another incident in Uttar Pradesh, a sub-inspector posted in Jhansi has been suspended with immediate effect after a woman constable accused him of rape and blackmail, officials said on Tuesday.

The complaint, filed at a police station in Mathura on Monday, alleges that the officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Ravikant Goswami, sexually assaulted the constable and used obscene videos to blackmail her.

In an official statement, Jhansi Senior Superintendent of Police BB GTS Murthy said, “Taking cognisance of the serious allegations, Sub-Inspector Ravikant Goswami, posted at Chirgaon police station, has been suspended with immediate effect.”

The SSP added that the Circle Officer (City) has been directed to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.

Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, police said.
