Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Fresh details pertaining to the ex-principal of RG Kar College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh have emerged.  Former deputy superintendent of the college, Akhtar Ali, has claimed that Ghosh, who tendered his resignation as the principal after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, was involved in several illegal activities.

According to an India Today report, the illegal activities included the selling of unclaimed bodies. Ali also alleged that the murder accused, Sanjay Roy, was part of the security of the former principal. Ali also stated that Ghosh was engaged in trafficking biomedical waste and medical supplies to Bangladesh.

Speaking to India Today, the former deputy superintendent said, "Sandip Ghosh sold unclaimed bodies. A case was also registered against him. He was also involved in trafficking biomedical waste. He used to sell it to the people who were part of his additional security. It was then sent to Bangladesh."

Ali was posted at RG Kar Hospital till 2023. He said he had raised an alarm related to the illegal activities before the state vigilance commission, and he was also a part of the enquiry committee against the former principal. He further stated that no action was initiated against Roy despite a probe finding him guilty.

On Wednesday, Ghosh reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Kolkata despite being summoned by the Kolkata Police on the same day. The Ex-Principal of RG Kar College, as per the summons of the Kolkata Police issued on Tuesday evening, is supposed to be present at the city police headquarters by noon.

The city police have summoned him for questioning on charges that he revealed the identity of the woman doctor of R.G. Kar, who was raped and murdered earlier this month, several times while speaking to the media persons. He arrived at the central probe agency's Salt Lake office in Kolkata outskirts at 9 a.m. carrying some files.

This is the sixth consecutive day since last Friday that he has appeared for questioning at the central agency's office. Earlier this week, the state government announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team to probe the allegations of financial irregularities at R.G. Kar. Medical College & Hospital since 2021, when it was under the supervision of Ghosh.
