Karnataka BJP Alleges ‘Groundwork’ For Siddaramaiah's Exit, Bommai Predicts ‘Midterm Polls’ Amid Congress Crisis

Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra alleges Congress leader Surjewala is in the state to orchestrate CM Siddaramaiah's resignation due to internal conflicts, stalled development, and administrative collapse.

Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra claimed on Wednesday that Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala arrived in the state to prepare grounds for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation.

“The state’s administrative machinery has collapsed and governance is in disarray. Infighting among Congress legislators is worsening, and development work has come to a standstill,” he alleged.

“Congress leader Randeep Surjewala is in Bengaluru for the past few days. Why is he here? He is not bothered about the downturn of the corrupt Congress government,” Vijayendra told reporters as quoted by news agency PTI.

The AICC chief is gathering the views of MLAs and is preparing ground to remove Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah from his post, he claimed. He further said that the fight for the top post has intensified, due to which horse trading would happen in the state.

Referring to Ramnagar MLA Iqbal Ansari’s recent statement that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar enjoys the support of 100 MLAs and should be made as the CM, the BJP state chief said several senior Congress leaders, including B R Patil and Raju Kage, have also spoken against Siddaramaiah. This shows that the CM has lost the confidence of his own legislators, he said, and urged the Governor to take note of the situation. He blamed the Congress government for the rising prices of essential commodities and accused it of "rampant corruption and administrative breakdown".

Former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai also claimed that Congress leader DK Shivakumar wants to become CM in next three months. However, the present CM Siddaramaiah is refusing, he added.

“DK Shivakumar wants to become the CM in next 2-3 months at any cost, whereas Siddaramaiah is refusing. DK Shivakumar says there was a deal struck when Siddaramaiah was made the CM. Siddaramaiah is denying it. Who is telling truth and who is telling lie, only high command knows. High command has become very weak...Congress MLAs have lost faith in this Government because there is no development, corruption has reached its heights...Popularity of the Government is at its lowest,” Former CM and BJP MP Basavaraj S Bommai said.

He also said that a midterm polls is expected in 2026.
