Kangana Should Resign If She Is Not Able To Discharge Her Obligations As MP: Himachal Minister

Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Singh Negi criticized BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, urging her resignation if she's unhappy with her MP duties.

Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Thursday said that BJP MP from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, Kangana Ranaut, should immediately resign if she is not happy with her obligations as an MP.

The revenue and horticulture minister's attack on Ranaut comes after she said during her visit to the disaster-affected areas of the Mandi district on Sunday: "The relief and restoration work has to be done by the state government, and as an MP, I can only apprise the prime minister and the home minister about the situation and seek liberal assistance." The actor-turned-politician had said, "We are the link between the state and the central government, instrumental in getting projects from the Centre to the state and raising issues and grievances of our constituencies with the Centre," and added, "I have neither any Cabinet nor bureaucracy and can only review the situation with deputy commissioners and give the feedback".

Talking to PTI Videos, he said, "If she is not happy with the obligation bestowed on her as an MP, she should immediately resign to pave way for some capable person who understands the pain of the people and stand at ground level with them".

Fifteen people died, five sustained injuries and search operations are underway to trace 27 missing persons who were washed away in 10 cloudbursts, followed by flash floods and a landslide on the night of June 30-July 1 in different parts of the Mandi district.

Negi also accused the Union government of discriminating against the state even in disaster relief and alleged that against losses of more than Rs 10,000 crore in the worst-ever monsoon disaster in 2023, the Centre gave a relief of Rs 2006 crore, that too after two years.

He urged the BJP MPs to raise the issue of adequate relief in Parliament and said that Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has also said that he would accompany the chief minister to Delhi for relief, which is welcome.
