'You Have Full Freedom To Crush Terror Outfits': J&K LG To Security Officials After Srinagar Blast

Terrorists threw a grenade at a CRPF bunker near a busy flea market in Srinagar, injuring at least 11 civilians on Sunday.

In the wake of a grenade attack, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday directed the top police officers and other security officials of the Union Territory to give a forceful response to the terrorists.

"The LG spoke to DGP Nalin Prabhat and senior officials of the security agencies on the grenade attack in Srinagar. He directed the security officials for an effective and forceful response to punish the terrorists and their associates," an official spokesman told the news agency PTI.

The LG issued a heavy warning stating that the terrorists attacking civilians will have to pay a very heavy price. "You have full freedom to crush terror outfits and leave no stone unturned to complete this mission," he said.

Terrorists threw a grenade at a CRPF bunker near a busy flea market in Srinagar, injuring at least 11 civilians on Sunday. The grenade missed its target, landing on the roadside and injuring 12 civilians, according to an officer.

J&K CM Condemns Attack

In response, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, emphasising that targeting civilians is unjustifiable.

"The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today’s news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the ‘Sunday market’ in Srinagar is deeply disturbing, " Omar Abdullah said in a post on X.

"There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians. The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear, " he also said.

The grenade attack took place just a day after a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander was killed in an encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area.
