J&K: Security Beefed Up After Suspected Explosive Found In Jammu's Gharota, Bomb Disposal Squad On Spot

Jammu and Kashmir: A suspected explosive was discovered on Saturday in the Gharota area of Jammu and Kashmir's Jammu district. Shortly after the discovery, security was tightened in the area and bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot. The area was cordoned off and traffic was also diverted to avoid any untoward incident. The suspected explosive was later diffused by the bomb disposal team, SP Rural Jammu Brijesh Sharma said.
The suspicious object was found by an area domination patrol by police and army on Ring Road Gharota.

According to news agency PTI, it was a suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with a timer.
SP Rural Jammu Brijesh Sharma said: "Our joint patrolling was going on with the Army and we found a suspicious object in the Ghrota area of Jammu...We made a tie-up with the BDS team and we have disposed it off..."

Suspected IED Found In Akhnoor, Terrorist Hideout Busted In Poonch
In another similar incident, a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in Akhnoor near Jammu on Saturday evening, officials said.
A terrorist hideout was also busted in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Saturday. The hideout was busted by a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at Jhullas Behra village, which further led to the recovery of some ammunition and two hand grenades, PTI reported, citing officials.
The grenades were later destroyed by the experts in a controlled explosion without causing any damage.
The Indian Army said on Saturday that two terrorists were killed when security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.
"Two terrorists have been eliminated by the security forces in the ongoing operation," the army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said.

The Corps had earlier stated in a post on X that a gun battle ensued between the security forces and terrorists when they spotted suspicious activity in Kupwara 's Gugaldhar.
The army has discovered war-like stores from the encounter zone where search is underway.
