Indore Woman Dies After Being Shot At Eye During Party, Keychain Helps Police Crack Case

A 24-year-old woman, Bhavna Singh, was shot through the eye at a party in Indore.

A 24-year-old woman died after she was shot through the eye at a party in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. The victim was dumped in a hospital by those she was partying with before the police cracked the case with the help of a keychain.

Bhavna Singh, the victim died at around 11 am on Friday, eight hours after she was abandoned, said the hospital deputy director Rahul Parashar. The doctors tried to get the men to identify her, but they fled, claiming they were going to get her family members, reported The Times of India.

However, in their haste, they dropped a keychain that cracked open the case with three of the five suspects in custody.

'Hit By Stone'

At around 3 am on Friday, the staff at Bombay Hospital saw four to five men pull up in a car and carry a bleeding woman into the building. They claimed that she was hit by a stone and ran away, avoiding questions from the staff.

Since the woman's vitals were sinking due to profuse bleeding from the punctured eye, she was immediately taken into the intensive care unit and put on ventilation.

Soon the doctors realised that it was a bullet that had hit the woman's eye and her brain and not a stone. The hospital authorities alerted the police about the unidentified patient and the strange circumstances she was brought in.

Keychain Cracks Case

While doctors were trying to save the woman's life, the police began their probe to identify her and the suspects with the keychain as the prime clue.

The keychain contained an address that led officers to a residential building in Mahalaxmi Nagar, said DCP Abhinay Vishwakarma.

By then, Bhavana died and the case was now a murder investigation.

Police found CCTV footage that showed four men leaving the premises. As per the cops, the house was rented by five men, two of whom worked with private firms and others were students.

The cops accessed the rental agreement from the landlord which had the identities of the tenants hailing from Datia, Gwalior, and Satna.

Bloodstains Found In Car

Further investigation by the police revealed that the accused had rented a car which they abandoned in Nipania, around 4 km from Bombay Hospital. Bloodstains were found in the car as well and the owner confirmed that it was rented by Ashu Yadav, a resident of Datia.

Three suspects have been detained by the police and the police are on the lookout for two more, including Ashu, the report stated.

Bhavna had come to Indore for a make-up artist's course and was a friend of Ashu's live-in partner. She had attended the party on her friend's invitation and got up to leave midway through the party sparking an altercation with Ashu.

As per the initial probe, Ashu allegedly threatened her with a gun which went off during the altercation, hitting Bhavna in the eye.
