A woman doctor was found dead at her home in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, with needle marks visible on her arm. The 25-year-old deceased, identified as Dr Richa Pandey, had married a Bhopal-based dentist just four months ago.

Originally from Lucknow, she was serving as an assistant professor at a private medical college in Bhopal. Her husband, Dr Abhijeet Pandey, practices dentistry, police officer Lokendra Thakur told India Today.

Police said that the couple had slept in separate rooms on Thursday night. When the woman's husband knocked on her door on Friday morning she did not respond. Unable to open the door himself, he approached his neighbours for help. However, their attempts were also unsuccessful.

He then called a labourer from a nearby market, who broke the door open, only to find the woman lying unconscious on the bed. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, but the doctors declared her dead, India Today reported.

Police said that they found injection marks on her hand, but added that the cause of behind her death will be confirmed only after the postmortem, which will be conducted after their arrival on Saturday.

Family Suspect Foul Play, Blame Husband

According to a report by Free Press Journal, the woman's family members have suspected foul play and have levelled allegations on her husband for her death. They have accused him of murdering their daughter.

However, he has denied these claims, stressing that he remains clueless about the reason of her death and that the room was locked from inside.

A case has been registered in the matter and police have started an investigation. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also reached the spot and collected samples, the report said. 

The police are currently examining all possible angles to determine the exact cause of her death.
