Gurugram Traffic Comes To Standstill
As water-clogged arterial routes, traffic came to a grinding halt across several parts of the city. The Gurugram Traffic Police posted a warning on X alerting residents about congestion:
Waterlogging has been reported at many places across Gurugram due to heavy rain since last night. Traffic jams with movement disruption may take more than the usual time to commute.
NH-48 was particularly hard hit, with a 7 to 8-kilometre-long queue of vehicles stretching from Narsinghpur to Delhi’s Rajokri late Wednesday night.
At Subhash Chowk, nearly 2.5 feet of water had accumulated, stranding vehicles and commuters in a snarl that lasted until 2 am on Thursday.
Frustrated residents took to social media to voice their grievances and demand accountability from the authorities. Many posts criticized the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) for its handling of stormwater drainage.
Responding to public outrage, the MCG issued a statement on X: "Required machinery is operational to ensure discharge of storm water. Drains are running at full capacity due to high rainfall."
