Gonda Police Host Girl's Wedding After Her Brother's Murder In Robbery
After a robbery in Gonda, UP, where the bride's brother was killed, police took responsibility for her wedding.

Uttar Pradesh News: The police in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district took on the responsibility of the wedding of a girl whose brother was killed during a robbery in the Umri Begumganj area of the district, Uttar Pradesh, last month and the wedding was solemnised with great fanfare on Thursday. Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said on Friday that the police, with the help of the Special Task Force (STF), took the responsibility of the wedding in Dhannipurwa village of Umri Begumganj police station area and completed the wedding on Thursday night, acting as the hosts.
Why Was Wedding Postponed?
Vineet Jaiswal said that the wedding of Uday Kumari, a resident of Dhannipurwa village, was scheduled for May 5, but on the night of April 24, miscreants who entered the house to steal, shot and killed her brother Shivdeen. Due to this, the wedding had to be postponed. He said that the name of the Pasi gang had come to light in the incident. The police formed several teams and arrested four out of six miscreants in an encounter, reported PTI.
The SP said that in this case, two rewarded criminals, Sonu Pasi and the gang leader Gyanchand Pasi, were killed in encounters with the police and STF on May 20 in Umri Begumganj and May 22 in Barabanki, respectively.
Police Bear Entire Expenses Wedding
After the incident, Ritu Shahi, a member of the State Women's Commission, and Tanvi Jaiswal, wife of Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal, visited the deceased's house and not only consoled the family but also announced to bear the entire expenses of the wedding of their daughter Uday Kumari. The Superintendent of Police said that after talking to the groom's side, the new date for the wedding was fixed as June 5. On Thursday, Gonda Police and STF were seen in the role of hosts at the wedding ceremony. From morning itself, police and STF officers were present in Dhannipurwa village. The police took care of every responsibility, from food to decoration.
According to the bride's family, the Superintendent of Police, along with his wife Tanvi, attended the wedding ceremony and the police handed over Rs 1 lakh 51 thousand in cash, jewelry, and all the household items to the bride. The Superintendent of Police and his wife welcomed the groom's family at the main gate.
Security Arrangements Ensured: Police
The Superintendent of Police said that foolproof security arrangements were ensured during the entire event. Full attention was paid to ensure that there was no kind of mismanagement. The message from the police was clearly given that we stand firmly not only against the criminals but also with the suffering masses. Jaiswal said, "When a family is in crisis, it is also our duty to protect them, reassure them, and help them get their life back on track."
After the wedding, the bride's father said, "After the robbery incident in the house, we felt that the daughter's wedding would not happen now, but the Superintendent of Police and his wife fulfilled this responsibility well. It did not seem that the policemen were on duty. They seemed like our own."
