Two-Day Rain Alert Issued In Delhi, Temperature Likely To Drop Further

Delhi Weather: Delhi is expected to experience a maximum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius on Saturday, January 11th. Rain is also forecast for the city.

Delhi Weather News: Delhi's weather woes continued on Saturday as the biting cold and dense fog persisted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has even issued a yellow alert for the national capital, warning people of the possibility of rain amid the cold wave.

According to the IMD, there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers in Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. Delhi will remain cloudy. Dense fog that brought down visibility to zero was seen in several areas in the morning.

Cold Wave To Intensify In Delhi

According to the IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi on Saturday are expected to be around 15 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively. The morning fog will persist till January 16 and the cold wave is likely to intensify with a further drop in temperature.

Fog Hits Air And Train Services 

Dense fog in Delhi on Friday, January 10, resulted in zero visibility. Air and rail operations were affected by the dense fog. The IMD has forecast rain over the weekend. Officials said that over 100 flights were affected at Indira Gandhi International Airport and 26 trains ran late.

An IMD bulletin for January 12 read: "Dense to very dense fog conditions very likely in some parts of Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi."

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 17.6 degrees Celsius on Friday, which was one degree below normal. While the minimum temperature was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius, which was 0.9 degrees below normal.

AQI Worsening Problems In Delhi

Air quality in Delhi was recorded as 'severe' on Friday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 397 at 4 pm, which falls in the severe category.

AQI is considered 'good' between zero and 50, 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100, 'moderate' between 101 and 200, 'poor' between 201 and 300, 'very poor' between 301 and 400 and 'severe' between 401 and 500.
