Delhi News: A 17-year-old JEE aspirant died by suicide in Delhi after she was unable to clear the exam, leaving a note for her parents.

Delhi News: A 17-year-old girl died by suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a building in New Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Friday. The police received a PCR call regarding the incident at 11:25 am, reporting that the girl had jumped off the roof of a building in Okhla main market. She had been preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) after clearing her Class 12 exams.

According to a statement from the Delhi Police, a suicide note was found in which the girl mentioned the immense pressure of studies and her inability to meet expectations, news agency ANI reported.

"Forgive me, I couldn't do it. I did not clear the JEE exam," she wrote in the note, as quoted by India Today's report.

The police revealed that the girl had informed her mother earlier that she would take her life if she failed the examination. Her father is employed in the private sector, while her mother is a homemaker, the report mentioned.

Tension At Hyderabad College After Student's Death, Family Alleges Negligence

In a separate incident, tension gripped a private junior college in Hyderabad's Bachupally area on Monday after Anusha, an Intermediate First Year student (Class 11), allegedly died by suicide in the college hostel. The incident led to a confrontation between the deceased’s family and the college management, as they protested the shifting of her body without their prior knowledge, news agency IANS reported.

Anusha, a native of Nagireddypalli village near Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district, had returned to the hostel on Sunday after the Dussehra holidays. According to the college, she fell unconscious and was subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where the family was later informed of her death by suicide. However, her family members, upon reaching the hostel, were angered to learn that the body had already been moved. They ransacked office furniture and engaged in a heated argument with the college staff, accusing the management of negligence and demanding an explanation for shifting the body without their consent, as per IANS.

A police official from Bachupally Police Station, under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, stated that the student allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her hostel room between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. The family has raised doubts about the circumstances of her death, urging the authorities to treat it as a case of death under suspicious conditions.

The police registered a case based on the family's complaint and initiated an investigation to determine the reason behind the student's extreme step. They assured that the inquiry would cover all possible angles. Addressing the family’s allegations regarding the delayed response, a police officer mentioned that they waited for two hours before transferring the body to Gandhi Hospital for an autopsy and emphasised that action would be taken against the college if negligence was established.
