Delhi Man Creates Fake Matrimonial Profiles To Dupe Hundreds Of Women Since 2017, Arrested

The accused confessed to his crime and revealed that he worked as a security guard. He admitted to creating fake profiles on matrimonial sites in 2017 and had been defrauding women since then.

A man was arrested by Delhi Police's cyber unit for reportedly creating fake profiles on various matrimonial websites and duping money from women after gaining trust with promises of marriage.

As per the police, the accused, Manoj Gahlawat, created fake profiles on matrimonial websites, claiming to be a manager at a reputed multinational company. He would entice women with promises of marriage, earn their trust, and obtain their credit card, debit card, and bank details. He then transferred money from their accounts without their consent.

Manager Turns Out To Be Security Guard

Delhi Police stated that the cyber unit of the Western district received a complaint from a woman. They discovered from the complaint that the accused had uploaded fake profiles on matrimonial sites like Jeevansathi.com, Shaadi.com, and Betterhalf.ai.

During the investigation, police tracked the bank account of the victim and identified the bank accounts where the money was transferred. This led them to Manoj Gahlawat, who was residing in the Usmanpur area of Delhi.

Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime and revealed that he worked as a security guard. He admitted to creating fake profiles on matrimonial sites in 2017 and had been defrauding women since then. Police are now scrutinising Gahlawat's bank accounts to determine how many women he has defrauded in this manner. 

14 Fake Doctors Arrested In Gujarat's Surat

In a separate incident, 14 fake doctors and the main accused of the gang who offered them false degrees were arrested in the Surat district of Gujarat on Thursday (December 5). The gang having a database of 1,200 fake degrees has also offered degrees to class 8 graduates, charging Rs 70,000 each.

The accused identified as Dr. Ramesh Gujarati along with other members of the gang were offering degrees, "issued by" the "Board of Electro Homoeopathic Medicine (BEHM) Gujarat". The police retrieved hundreds of applications, certificates, and stamps in their possession.
