Delhi: 22-Year-Old Woman Injured As 17 Bullet Rounds Fired At Welcome Area Over Monetary Dispute

The crime team collected 17 pieces of evidence, including empty shells, live rounds, and metal fragments. Further investigation is underway.

A 22-year-old woman was injured as around 17 rounds of bullets were fired between two groups over a monetary dispute in northeast Delhi's Welcome area on Saturday evening, according to the Delhi Police. Police stated that they received information about a dispute and gunfire at Z-2 and Raja Market in the Welcome area. Senior Officer ASI Vishal and his team arrived at the scene and found empty bullet casings in the street.

According to news agency ANI, police said upon questioning witnesses and the caller, it was learned that a 22-year-old woman had been injured in the shooting and was admitted to GTB Hospital. The incident reportedly arose due to a money dispute between jeans wholesalers. "Few culprits have been nabbed," ANI reported police as saying.

A fight broke out around 4.30 pm between two groups involved in the jeans manufacturing business and around 17 rounds of bullets were fired from both sides, news agency PTI reported police as informing. Police said that the injured woman was identified as Ifra. She was standing near the spot when she got shot in the chest.

She was taken to GTB Hospital and is undergoing treatment. "None one of the group members involved in the incident suffered bullet injuries," police said, as per PTI.

A Man Accidentally Injured During Firing On Baba Siddique

A man was accidentally injured during the gunshots that killed NCP leader Baba Siddique. The identified victim, Raj Kanojia, 22, was returning from a fruit juice center on the ill-fated Saturday night when Mumbai's upscale Bandra area was rocked with the killing of Baba Siddique.

He was passing by the area was hit by a stray bullet severely injuring his leg. He rues the fact that he will be out of action for two months when his family is having a crucial time with the marriage of his sister slated for February. 

"Madad kya sir ab toh pair main goli lag gayi hai. February main shadi hai sister ki. Do mahine kuch kar nahi paayege hum (What help, sir. I have been shot in the leg. My sister's wedding is in February. I won't be able to do much," he told news agency IANS on Tuesday. 

Highlighting the incident, Kanojia stated that the atmosphere was such as if crackers were being burst. The assailants had burst crackers and opened fire under the cover of a thick smoke.
