Caught On Camera: Delhi Gym Owner Shot Dead In Posh GK Neighbourhood

A 35-year-old gym owner was fatally shot in Delhi's Greater Kailash area. CCTV footage captured the attack.

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by an armed assailant in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Thursday night. A CCTV camera captured the moment when the shooter opened fire at the victim, who was a gym owner, on a busy road in the posh south Delhi locality.

The victim was identified as Nadir Shah, an Afghan-origin man who lived in CR Park. In the CCTV footage going viral on social media, Shah can be seen standing at the side of the road next to parked cars while talking to another man, when the armed assailant approached him wearing a chequered shirt approached them and opened fire.

While the other man ducked and ran away, the attacker kept firing several rounds of bullets at Shah from a very close range before he ran away and hopped on a motorcycle parked a few metres away, fleeing the scene. The incident took place around 10.40 pm, according to the time stamp on the video.

Briefing media about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ankit Chauhan said that information was received regarding firing at GK 1 in which one person was injured and taken to the Max Hospital. "The police personnel on reaching the spot found some bullet projectiles and empty cartridges. On enquiry, it was found that Nadir Shah, a resident of CR Park, had suffered bullet injuries. The attackers came on a two-wheeler, fired on him and ran away. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his friends but was declared brought dead," Chauhan said.

As per police, Shah used to run a gym in GK-1 on a partnership basis. As per media reports, Shah also owned a business in Dubai and has several criminal cases against him.

Meanwhile, according to a report by NDTV, Rohit Godara, a close aide of Goldy Brar of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility for the murder in a social media post. In the post, Godara said he ordered Shah's killing because his aide Samir Baba, who is jailed at Tihar, sent him a message that the gym owner was obstructing their business deals. "If anyone else should dare to do the same, they will meet the same fate," the post, written in Hindi, read.
