BSF Arrests Pakistani National Near Border In Punjab Day After Nabbing Pak Ranger
The man has been identified as Hasnain, a resident of Gujranwala in Pakistan and was caught late on Saturday night (May 3) while attempting to cross into the Indian territory.

Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack, the Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a Pakistani national in the Gurdaspur district in Punjab.
The man has been identified as 24-year-old Hasnain, a resident of Gujranwala in Pakistan and was caught late on Saturday night (May 3) while attempting to cross into the Indian territory.
The BSF personnel recovered some Pakistani currency and an identity card from him. He has been sent for police remand for two days at the Ramdas Police Station and is being probed by security agencies and the local police.
The arrest comes a day after a Pakistani Ranger was apprehended by the Border Security Force along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan.
The arrests come as the security agencies have ramped up security measures across border areas amidst heightened tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad following the killing of 26 people in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.
On May 4, the BSF teams intercepted three separate attempts to breach the border in Punjab. In a separate operation near Lakkha Singh Wala village, alert troops seized a pistol frame and two magazines from a field close to the international boundary.
Acting on a tip-off, BSF personnel, alongside Punjab Police, conducted a search near Mahawa village in Amritsar district.
BSF personnel deputed near the international border at Lakha Singh Wala village seized a packet containing one pistol body without the slide and two magazines from an agricultural field. In another incident, a search operation was carried out near Mahawa village in Amritsar district following a tip-off, which led to the seizure of a packet containing heroin weighing about 550 gm.
The packet was wrapped with a white cloth and an improvised loop with two illuminating strips was found attached to it.
In another operation, security forces recovered a drone from farmland near Mehdi Pur village in Tarn Taran district.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police also arrested two men in Amritsar on May 4 for allegedly leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army cantonment areas and air bases in Amritsar.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that the Amritsar Rural Police has arrested Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, both residents of Ajnala. "They were allegedly transmitting sensitive information to Pakistan's intelligence agency," the DGP said.
Earlier in the day, the Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting retaliation from Indian troops. The Monday's firing marks the 11th consecutive night of Pakistan's unprovoked firing along the LoC.
“During the night of May 4 and 5, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J-K,” a defence spokesperson in Jammu said.
