Bihar Weather Today: Heavy Rain With Lightning And Thunderstorm Predicted In 14 Districts
Bihar Weather: An alert for heavy rain on Friday was issued by IMD. Fourteen districts face warnings of heavy downpours, with a yellow alert for lightning in place for western districts.
Bihar Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert across Bihar for Friday, warning that the monsoon will remain active throughout the day, particularly in capital Patna. The department has forecast persistent rainfall due to the influence of the monsoon trough line, which currently stretches through central Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.
The monsoon activity is expected to impact all regions of Bihar, with rainfall expected in various districts. However, this weather system is predicted to weaken by Saturday, offering some respite from the heavy downpours.
The IMD has issued warnings for 14 districts, cautioning residents of potential heavy rainfall and lightning strikes. The districts most at risk include Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran, and West Champaran, where very heavy rain is expected. Moderate-to-heavy showers are also likely in Gopalganj, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Jamui, and Banka.
Bihar Yellow Alert: Lightning And Thunderstorms Likely
A yellow alert for lightning was issued early Friday morning, covering several districts in the western parts of Bihar. The IMD warned that lightning strikes could accompany the rain in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Vaishali, Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Araria, Purnea, and Kishanganj.
On Thursday, the monsoon remained active throughout the state, with cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall recorded across nearly all districts. The heaviest rainfall was observed in Madhepura, which recorded 80.2 mm of rain, followed by Katihar and Banka, both receiving 77.4 mm. Moderate rainfall of 64.6 mm and 62.2 mm was reported in Araria and Purnea, respectively.
The continuous rainfall has caused temperatures across Bihar to drop significantly. On Thursday, the state’s average temperature was recorded at 27 to 28 degrees Celsius, with Patna experiencing a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius, a 2.8-degree drop compared to Wednesday. Valmiki Nagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 30.4 degrees Celsius, while Forbesganj saw the lowest maximum temperature at 25.2 degrees Celsius.
