'Born To Deal With Beards And Caps': Bhopal BJP MP Targets Muslim Men Over 'Love Jihad' Claims

BJP MP Alok Sharma in Bhopal accused a specific community of targeting Hindu girls in private colleges through a planned love trap.

'Love Jihad' Politics: Politics has heated up after cases of alleged 'love jihad' were reported at a private college in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Now, BJP MP Alok Sharma has waded into the controversy with an alleged speech that targeted a particular community.

Bhopal MP Alok Sharma said that young men from the Muslim community are systematically trapping Hindu girls in love affairs in private colleges. He alleged that these men are raping and blackmailing the students. He described it as a conspiracy and said, "If any Muslim has the guts, let them try love jihad now. I was born to deal with those with beards and caps."

'Separate Events For Sanatani Women'

Sharma claimed that Brahmin students are being specifically targeted and that those involved in the "conspiracy" will be severely punished. He even suggested that programmes like Garba should be organised separately for Sanatani women to prevent the entry of those who commit "love jihad".

Sharma further stated that a large Hindu gathering will be held in Bhopal on June 5, in which Pandit Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham will participate. He appealed to all Hindus to unite at the event.

Ashok Sharma also expressed concern over the Hindu population in Old Bhopal, which, he says, is on the decline. He said, "In the Koh-e-Fiza neighbourhood, we were once 80%. Now, only 20% Hindus remain. In Chowk Bazaar, there were 45,000 Hindus; now there are only 3,200. This religious imbalance is dangerous."

Love Jihad Is Wrong: Arif Masood

Congress MLA Arif Masood called Alok Sharma's statement a stunt for cheap popularity and said that criminals, regardless of their religion or caste, should not be spared. Arif Masood said, "Love jihad is wrong. A daughter, whoever she may be, is also our daughter. The safety and honour of our sisters and daughters is everyone's responsibility. Strict action should be taken against those who wrong them."

Masood described those who wear beards and caps as patriots and said, "These are the people who fought the British and liberated the country. These are the greatest patriots of the country."
