Son Attacks Mother With Axe Over Money Dispute In Rajasthan's Bharatpur, Flees With Weapon
The family informed the police about the incident, following which Circle Officer Pankaj Yadav and a team from the Mathura Gate police station arrived at the spot.

A woman was brutally attacked by her son with an axe over a monetary dispute within the jurisdiction of the Mathura Gate police station, in Rajasthan's Bharatpur. The injured woman was quickly rushed to a hospital, but later, due to her critical condition, she was referred to Jaipur and is currently undergoing treatment.
The accused who attacked his mother is still at large, and Police teams are actively searching for him. As per the available information, the accused son, Sunny (22), had an ongoing dispute with his mother, Roop Kunwar (40), over money. Roop Kunwar used to give her elder son, Sunny, Rs 10,000 every month for expenses. However, Sunny wanted more than Rs 10,000, which had led to repeated arguments between them over the past several days.
Last evening around 8:30 PM, Roop Kunwar was cooking in the kitchen when Sunny returned home. He retrieved an axe from his room and launched a brutal attack on his mother in the kitchen. Other family members who were present in the house rushed to the kitchen and managed to save her after they heard Roop Kunwar’s screams.
Accused Fle After Attack
Sunny fled the scene with the axe after the assault. Around 10 minutes later, Roop Kunwar’s younger son, Avneet, arrived at the house and rushed her to a private hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to a hospital in Jaipur.
The family informed the police about the incident, following which Circle Officer Pankaj Yadav and a team from the Mathura Gate police station arrived at the spot. Relatives and neighbours, however, were reluctant to speak about what had happened.
To assist the investigation, the police summoned a dog squad and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team to gather key evidence from the house. Sunny, still in possession of the axe, is yet to be found. Police have established checkpoints across the city, but his whereabouts remain unknown. It has also emerged that Sunny had purchased a new axe just five days before the attack.
CO Pankaj Yadav confirmed they had received a report from Thakur Mohalla in the Mathura Gate area regarding an axe attack by a man named Sunny on his mother, Roop Kunwar. When police reached the residence, they found bloodstains throughout the home. The injured woman was taken to the hospital, and a manhunt to locate the suspect is ongoing. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. The incident reportedly occurred around 8:30 PM.
