Bhagalpur Murders: What Happened At Constable's House On Aug 12 Night? Many Unanswered Questions As Police Probe 5 Deaths

Bhagalpur News: Police are investigating the 5 deaths. A suicide note has been found, from which it appears the cop's husband killed 4 before ending his life, but its authenticity is questioned.

Bhagalpur: A chilling and perplexing murder mystery has engulfed the Bihar town of Bhagalpur, after five bodies were discovered in the government quarters allotted to a police constable. The grim discovery on the morning of August 13 has sent shockwaves through the community, with the police now racing against time to piece together the events wiped out an entire family. The deceased include constable Neetu, her husband, mother-in-law, and two children.

Discovery Of 5 Bodies Inside Police Quarters

The incident came to light when a milkman, following his routine morning delivery, found the door of Neetu's official quarter unusually unresponsive. After repeated attempts to wake up the occupants, concerned neighbours alerted the local police. Upon arrival, the officers forced open the door and were met with a horrifying scene.

Inside, the strangled bodies of Constable Neetu, her two young children, and her mother-in-law were found. On the veranda, the body of Neetu's husband, Pankaj, was discovered hanging from a noose. The Bhagalpur police immediately launched an investigation into what appeared to be a deeply disturbing case of multiple murders followed by suicide.

The Suicide Note

A suicide note allegedly written by Pankaj was found at the scene. The note reportedly accuses Neetu of being involved in an illicit relationship, which, according to Pankaj, was the source of ongoing disputes between the couple. The authenticity and content of the note have become central to the investigation, raising more questions than answers. The police have not made the content of the suicide note public.

Investigators are grappling with several possibilities. Did Neetu, in a fit of rage or despair, kill her children and mother-in-law before Pankaj took her life and his own? Or was Pankaj the perpetrator of these heinous crimes, driven by anger and betrayal? How did no one in the neighbourhood hear anything as the mayhem went on next door? The presence of a blood-stained knife at the scene further complicates the narrative, leading to speculation that a third party might be involved.

Unanswered Questions

The suicide note, while crucial, has sparked scepticism. While the police have not yet shared the contents of the note, sources said many are questioning the coherent note purportedly written by Pankaj before or after the murders, if he committed them at all. There are, hence, doubts if the note was actually penned by Pankaj or if it was staged to mislead investigators.

It has emerged that the couple had been indeed embroiled in frequent disputes.

A fellow constable, who works in the crime branch, has been reportedly been detained at an undisclosed location for questioning. It is being suspected that he was the person with whom Neetu allegedly had a relationship.

The investigation is proceeding under the direct supervision of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG). A forensic team had until Wednesday scoured the crime scene twice in search of additional evidence. The dog squad was also deployed to assist in the search, and Neetu's mobile phone is being examined for any clues that might shed light on her alleged relationship and the events leading up to the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Neetu's family has arrived from Samastipur. The post-mortem of all five bodies was conducted at the local Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, after which they were handed over to the family for the last rites.
