Bengaluru news: At Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport on October 14, a 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly trying to grab a rifle from a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer, police reported, as per a report on The Indian Express.
The individual, identified as Vikram Ramdas, a resident of Kasturi Nagar, had just flown in from Hyderabad earlier that morning. According to authorities, the situation escalated when Ramdas mistakenly picked up another passenger’s luggage while exiting the terminal. However, this resulted in a minor altercation with the luggage's owner at around 7:30 AM.
As tensions flared, a CISF officer stepped in to resolve the matter. However, Ramdas reportedly attempted to interfere with the officer's duties and, in the process, allegedly tried to seize the officer's rifle, reported Deccan Herald. This prompted the immediate involvement of the CISF commander and the Quick Response Team (QRT), who quickly detained Ramdas and handed him over to the Kempegowda International Airport police for further investigation.
Ramdas was charged under Section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to using assault or criminal force to prevent a public servant from carrying out official duties. After questioning, he was released on station bail pending further legal action.
