2 Boys Drown In Kuakhai River During Saraswati Idol Immersion In Odisha's Bhubaneswar
The incident took place when the boys had gone to Rangabazar area along with their tuition teacher and other students for the Saraswati idol immersion.

Two boys drowned in the Kuakhai River on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar during the immersion of an idol of Goddess Saraswati on Wednesday, police said. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the death of the two boys and announced compensation for each of their families.
The deceased boys, both 15 years old, were identified as Dibyajayoti Mahalik from Unit-6 and Sikun Senapati from Ganga Nagar in Bhubaneswar. CM Majhi announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for each of the families of the deceased boys from the State Disaster Relief Fund.
The incident took place when the boys had gone to Rangabazar area along with their tuition teacher and other students for the Saraswati idol immersion. The duo was carrying the idol to the river water when they slipped into deep waters and were swept away by strong currents while taking a dip, police told news agency PTI.
The bodies have been fished out and sent for post-mortem examination.
Man Drowns During Idol Immersion In Ludhiana
A 25-year-old man drowned during while immersing an idol of Goddess Sarasvati in Sirhind Canal near Doraha in Ludhiana on February 4. Two others were also swept away by the strong currents, but were rescued by bystanders.
The deceased has been identified as Sudhir Yadav, a resident of Jugiana. According to eyewitness Dinesh Ram, he and his family had travelled to Doraha for idol immersion. His body was recovered later by the divers. Five individuals had entered the canal for the immersion ritual, but were swept by the currents, a report by Hindustan Times.
Sub-inspector Rao Varinder and Doraha station house officer, confirmed that the police were informed about the incident, following which cops visited the site to assess the situation.
