Vodafone Idea Q4 Results: Vi's average revenue per user nudged up to Rs 146 from Rs 145 in Q3FY24 and Rs 135 in the same quarter of the prior fiscal

Vodafone Idea (Vi) logged a net loss of Rs 7,674 crore for the quarter ended on March 31, 2024. This marks an expansion of losses compared to Rs 6,418.9 crore incurred in the corresponding period last year. While revenue from operations saw a slight uptick at Rs 10,606 crore from Rs 10,531 crore in the previous fiscal's quarter, Vi's average revenue per user (ARPU) nudged up to Rs 146 from Rs 145 in Q3FY24 and Rs 135 in the same quarter of the prior fiscal. This growth was primarily driven by adjustments in entry-level plans and subscriber upgrades.

The telco noted a milestone during the quarter, achieving its highest post-merger quarterly EBITDA of Rs. 2,180 crore, marking a 5.4 per cent increase year-on-year. The EBITDA margin also improved to 40.9 per cent compared to 40 per cent YoY.

Akshaya Moondra, CEO of Vodafone Idea Limited, expressed satisfaction with the annual revenue and EBITDA growth for the second consecutive year. Moondra highlighted consistent performance improvement despite reduced investments, attributing it to the company's execution capabilities.

Moondra said Vi's progress in 4G expansion, citing growth in ARPU and 4G subscribers over 11 successive quarters. The recent equity fund raise of approximately Rs 215 billion positions Vi to bolster its 4G coverage and prepare for the launch of 5G services.

Vi disclosed plans for debt fundraising, aiming to secure up to Rs 25,000 crore from a consortium of banks, along with additional non-fund-based facilities of up to Rs. 10,000 crore. The telecom company intends to utilise equity and debt funding primarily for capital expenditure, estimated to be between Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 55,000 crore over the next three years.

Vodafone Idea's shares closed marginally lower at Rs 13.15 apiece on the BSE on May 16.
