Tirupati Laddu Controversy: Amul Denies Supplying Ghee To The Temple, Read What The Firm Said

Amidst the controversy surrounding the adulteration of ghee used to make laddus in the Tirupati temple, dairy brand, Amul has issued a clarification regarding its role in the supply of ghee to the temple. The Indian company released an official statement and said that it has never supplied ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
Issuing the statement via a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Amul said, “This is in reference to some social media posts mentioning that Amul Ghee was being supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). We wish to inform that we have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD.”
The firm further said that the statement has been issued in public interest. It highlighted that the Amul Ghee is made from pure milk fat of high quality and the milk passes all the required qualtiy checks such as adulteration detection. “This post is being issued to stop the misinformation campaign against Amul,” the company said.

The dairy brand stressed, “Amul Ghee is India’s most trusted ghee brand for more than 50+ years and continues to be an integral part of Indian households”. Notably, the clarification comes after several posts started circulating on social media claiming that Amul was supplying ghee to the Tirupati temple. Recently, reports emerged stating that alleged beef tallow, fish oil, and lard were found in the laddus in the temple.
This has evoked strong reactions on the internet as Netizens questioned how this became possible. Many users claimed that TTD switched its ghee supplier from Nandini to Amul in the recent years. Amul was responding to these allegations.
Notably, last week the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) alleged that the Tirupati laddus from TTD contain ‘beef tallow, fish oil’, and other adulterated ingredients according to the lab reports of the samples tested.
