Shark Tank India: Meet Jugadu Kamlesh, Who Won Hearts For His Design Concept Of Pesticides Spray

After almost seven years Kamlesh developed the product way in 2014, he seized this golden chance to present the business plan on Shark Tank

New Delhi: It’s rightly said you may only succeed if you desire to succeed and such is the story of Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare, aka Jugadu Kamlesh, who recently appeared on the Shark Tank India show with his partner Naru winning the hearts of the judges and viewers.

Kamlesh pitched an impressive idea to the panel comprising of seven judges that will prove beneficial to the agricultural sector. Hailing from a village named Tarpada, which is 20 km away from Malegaon in Maharashtra, Kamlesh came up with the concept of a Pesticides Spray solution.

The idea of a unique pesticide trolley spray took the panelist by surprise since he doesn’t boast of any fancy degree. The solution of the versatile bicycle would allow farmers to spray pesticides, sow seeds, and transport goods.

Kamlesh and partners believe that affordable, low-maintenance, and innovative products could change the lives of every farmer in the country.

Even as there are scores of pesticide sprayers, the biggest challenge is that the equipment needs to be held on shoulders. Finding a solution to this problem, Kamlesh designed a trolley spray, where bottles can be placed along with a handle and sprayer making it user-friendly.

Kamlesh developed the product way back in 2014 after procuring scraps and continued to experiment and improve. After almost seven years he seized this golden chance to present the business plan on Shark Tank.

He has a YouTube channel of the same name 'Jugadu Kamlesh' where he had posted a video of using the spray back in 2017. The same video became viral and currently has more than 8 million views.

Peyush Bansal, the co-founder, and CEO of Lenskart was mightily impressed by the idea and lauded for his efforts. Bansal took to the social media platform Linkedin to share his experience about the young entrepreneur on the show.

"I truly believe the impact is created by great Entrepreneurs and Kamlesh is really one of them. He just did not have the access and resources some of us have and honestly, I feel some of us, like me, just got more lucky than him first," wrote Bansal on Linkedin.

In his final offer from Bansal, the deal was closed for Rs 10 lakh in exchange for 40 percent equity in the company and a Rs 20 lakh loan at zero interest with a future valuation of Rs 25 crore, according to the blog post of Shark Tank India website.

Kamlesh said, "Naukri karunga toh 24 ghante ke liye kisi ka gulam rahunga, aur hum kisan hai hum kisi ke gulam nahi rehna chahte (If I do a job, I will be someone's slave for 24 hours, and we are farmers, we do not want to be someone's slave)."

Kamlesh received appreciation on social media platforms as well. Kamlesh, whose brother serves in the Army.
