PM Modi In Rajya Sabha: Record Investments Came In Covid Times, Economy Expected To Grow In Double Digit
On the agricultural sector, the PM said the government has initiated changes in the sector since 2014 which are aimed at empowering the small farmers.
India has received record investments in Corona times even as the pandemic derailed economy globally, said Narendra Modi in Rajya Sabha on Monday. The economy is expected to grow in double digit, and the country is witnessing digital transactions to the tune of 4 lakh crore, noted PM in his speech while replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on President Ram Nath Kovind's address in the Rajya Sabha or Upper House of Parliament. . Around 10 crore toilets have been constructed, gas connections have been provided, health facilities have been extended to poor and needy. On one side there is an atmosphere of despair, on the other side, there is a ray of hope in India, stressed PM saying, “We have to keep striving and help the country in eradicating poverty. Our government is dedicated to poor and needy. There are issues but we have to keep fighting for this and future generation as well.” On the renewable energy front, India has been able to make space among the top five renewable producing countries globally.
“Everyone is looking for investment in the Corona times, but India has received record investments,” he added. The eyes of the world are on India. There are expectations from India and there is the confidence that India will contribute to the betterment of our planet, added Modi.
The government has taken care of the needs of the MSME sector as well during pandemic. The stimulus package has addressed the needs of businesses and the sector has playd a crucial role in the recovery of the economy.
India stands at the second position in mobile manufacturing and start-ups in India are already being recognised globally. While highlighting record crop production, Modi said, “Since 2014 we have initiated changes in the agriculture sector aimed at empowering the farmer. The crop insurance scheme was changed to make it more farmer friendly. The PM-KISAN scheme was also brought in. We are working for the small farmers.”
"NDA's other schemes also help farmers. For example- the PMGSY. When the road connectivity improves, it enables the production of the farmers to reach distant places. There are efforts like Kisan Rail too. The need of the hour is to improve the lives of the small farmers, " the PM stated. 1
