Now Hiring! THIS IT Giant Plans To Resume Campus Hiring, Targets 22,000 Freshers For FY25
Now Hiring: The company will recruit talent for its 2025 intake by visiting the top 100 engineering colleges in India, excluding the renowned IITs and NITs
Wipro is gearing up to boost its campus hiring initiatives this year, following a hiatus in recruitment last year. The Bengaluru-based IT services firm is planning a substantial increase in its hiring target for fresh graduates for the fiscal year 2025. According to a report by Mint, Wipro is looking to elevate its initial hiring goal from 10,000 to around 22,000 freshers.
The recruitment will primarily focus on filling the project engineer role, although the exact positions offered may be flexible. This new hiring drive will target candidates from the lowest tier of Wipro’s three-tier hiring structure. For fresh graduates from engineering colleges that are not part of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or National Institute of Technology (NIT) networks, starting salaries are expected to be set at Rs 3.5 lakh per annum, as highlighted in the report.
The company will recruit talent for its 2025 intake by visiting the top 100 engineering colleges in India, excluding the renowned IITs and NITs. Among the notable institutions on the list are Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bengaluru, SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, and Vellore Institute of Technology.
The company has chosen to focus on hiring from non-premier institutions because graduates from colleges outside the IITs and NITs are more likely to be retained and become project-ready faster. With profitability pressures affecting Wipro, the emphasis is on cost-effective recruitment at the lower end of the salary scale.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, it was reported that Wipro recently withdrew some job offers extended to fresh graduates nearly 30 months ago, citing that the candidates did not meet eligibility criteria due to incomplete mandatory pre-skilling training. In an email to those affected, Wipro highlighted that successfully completing this training was a prerequisite for onboarding, according to The Time of India report.
