President Murmu In Pre-Budget Address Says PM Modi Developing India At Thrice The Speed In Third Term

President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of both the Houses, ahead of the presentation of the FY 2025-26 Budget.

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday addressed the joint session of the Parliament ahead of Budget 2025. Lauding the efforts of the current government she said that the Modi government is writing India's development story at thrice the speed in its third stint in office. She said, "In its third term, the goverment is working at thrice the speed and the country is witnessing implementation of government decisions and policies rapidly."

In her pre-Budget address, she said, "Two months ago, we celebrated the 75 years of adopting our constitution and a few days ago, we completed our journey of 75 years... On behalf of all Indians, I bow down to Babasaheb Ambedkar and all others in the Constitution Committee."

Before starting her pre-Budget address, President Murmu paid homage to former PM Manmohan Singh.

In her speech, she stressed that the government placed a special focus on the education of youth and creating new employment opportunities for them. She said that the youth of the country is bringing glory in every field from startups to sports to space, and added that India is showing the way to the world in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and the adoption of technology.

Addressing the joint seating, she said that the government has started 'Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan' for five crore people of the tribal society. She added that the current government taken steps towards 'One Nation, One Election' and Waqf Amendment Bill.

Talking about the women-led development, she said that the government believes in empowering the country under the leadership of women. President Murmu said, "It is a matter of great pride for the Parliament that today women in large numbers are flying fighter aircraft, joining Police and also leading corporates in the country...Our daughters are making the country proud by winning Olympic medals."

Lauding the success of India in the field of digital technology, she said that the government has used digital technology as a tool for social justice and equality. She mentioned how the developed nations of the world are impressed with the success of India's UPI transactions system.
