Budget 2021: FM Nirmala Sithraman Launches Union Budget Mobile Application, Know The Features Here
The Union Budget Mobile App has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the guidance of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA).
As India gears up for the first paperless budget in history, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday launched a new mobile app by the name 'Union Budget Mobile App' for hassle-free access to Budget documents by the MPs and the general public using the simplest form of digital convenience.
Calling it the "simplest form of digital convenience", the Finance Ministry stated, "The mobile app facilitates complete access to 14 Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill, etc., as prescribed by the Constitution."
The launch took place along with the customary 'halwa' ceremony that commences the "final stage" of Union Budget 2021-22. The FM was accompanied by the Minister of State Finance & Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur. "Other officers and staff of the Ministry of Finance, involved in the Budget preparation and compilation process, were also present on the occasion," the FinMin said in a tweet.
The Union Budget Mobile app has a user-friendly interface and is equipped with features like "downloading, printing, search, zoom in and out, bidirectional scrolling, table of contents and external links" and more.
All about the Union Budget Mobile App
- The mobile app facilitates complete access to 14 Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill, etc, as prescribed by the Constitution.
- The app has a user-friendly interface with embedded features of downloading, printing, search, zoom in and out, bidirectional scrolling, table of contents and external links, etc.
- The bilingual app (English and Hindi) and will be available on both Android and iOS platforms.
- The app can also be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal -- www.indiabudget.gov.in. The app has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the guidance of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA).
- All Budget-related documents will be available on the mobile app after the completion of the Budget speech by FM Sitharaman in Parliament on 1 February.

Meanwhile, for the first time since independence, the Union Budget 2021, slated to be presented on February 1, is going to be completely paperless. The budget papers will not be printed in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The decision has been taken as nearly 100 people would be required to stay at the printing press for around a fortnight amid the pandemic fear.
The Central Government has received permission for the same from both houses of parliament.
