BTS Of Pakistan International Airlines: Broken Seats, Duct-Taped Bins Show Poor Condition
The video captures the passenger settling into his seat and encountering several issues. He finds out that the seat handle is broken, making it unusable
A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) passenger has shared a distressing experience on the social media platform Instagram which again sparked discussions about the airline's declining standards. The passenger posted a video on Instagram documenting the poor conditions aboard a domestic PIA flight, raising concerns about the airline's safety. This comes at a time when PIA is already facing significant international scrutiny.
The video starts with passenger Ali Khan boarding the flight and being immediately informed by the cabin crew that video recording was strictly prohibited. This restriction seemed almost justified, given the unsettling conditions that were shown in the passenger’s video.
The video captures the passenger settling into his seat and encountering several troubling issues. He finds that the seat handle is broken, making it unusable. The overhead bin above him is secured with duct tape, indicating a need for proper maintenance. Additionally, the areas around the seats are visibly dusty and neglected, highlighting the lack of attention given to maintaining the essential quality of an aircraft.
In the caption of the shared video, the passenger asks a question from his Instagram followers: “Would you fly on this route? Pakistan has a troubled reputation in the world. It doesn’t help when your national carrier is also banned from an entire continent. But I decided to go on a PIA flight for the first time in over a decade to go the Northern Areas of Pakistan.”

Since the 1950s, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been the country’s state-owned flag carrier. However, the airline has faced numerous challenges, including a series of tragic crashes. In 2020, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) banned PIA's flights to Europe and the UK. This decision was based on significant safety concerns and the airline's non-compliance with international aviation standards.
The video has since gone viral, leading to widespread scrutiny of PIA's dedication to safety and its fleet's ongoing use of outdated aircraft. Several internet users came forward in the post's comment section to join the conversation, raising further questions and concerns.
“Watching this clip and hearing what you said about the Airlines gave me heart palpitations. But no doubt about the beauty you witnessed, and God bless you for the risk you took to see it,” one of the internet users wrote.
