Speaking exclusively in ABP News' Jan Man Dhan Budget Conclave, the union minister said the budget is set to generate growth, employment and liquidity in the market, which will in turn help in riving the Covid-hit economy.
"I believe that the country's economy will grow rapidly. At the time when poverty and hunger are biggest challenge in the country, the reform and policies announced are expected to have good impact," Gadkari said.
Talking about the auto mobile industry, the union minister said that its total turnover is four and a half lakh crores, and generates highest employment in our country. The Voluntary Vehicle Scrappage Policy will give a new direction to the auto industry and provide millions of jobs.
"Under this, if someone scrapes his old car, he will get a discount on the new car from the company. This will give a boost to economic growth," Nitin Gadkari said.
The minister emphasised that the policy is aimed to push forward the introduction of new vehicles and boost the demand for heavy and medium commercial vehicles. "With this, import of petrol and diesel will come down. Pollution will be less, and cost of manufacturing cars, buses, and trucks will be reduced. With this new policy, we will become the number one automobile manufacturing hub in the world," Nitin Gadkari added.
He went on to say that the biggest benefit from this will be that employment opportunities will increase and the country will become self-sufficient.
