Vinfast will open bookings for its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs by this month. The VF6 and VF7 were shown at the Auto Expo along with other Vinfast products. While exact dealership numbers and reach would be revealed by the Vietnamese carmaker at the launch time, we expect Tier 2 and Tier 3 city presence as well. Of course, while pricing and warranty would be available at launch, the initial production capacity will be 50,000 vehicles per year while the plant in India will ramp up capacity to around 150,000 vehicles annually.

Both the VF6 and the VF7 would be locally assembled at their new plant in Tamil Nadu. Vinfast CEO for India is Pham Sanh Chau as its India CEO who previously was a  diplomat. At the APP Live Auto Awards, he had said that the VF7 and VF6 will come in June too. Both the electric SUVs are aimed at the premium compact SUV space where most of the segment growth is concentrated at.

The new EV manufacturing unit is at Thoothukudi in southern Tamil Nadu where the company has planned to invest Rs 4000 crore. The EV factory at first could look at the Indian market but it could also export to countries in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
