Ola S1 Air Review: More Affordable Electric Scooter At Better Value?
Ola S1 Air Review: The biggest change obviously is a smaller 2.5kWh battery pack along with a hub-mounted motor with an output of 4.5kW.
Ola has launched its most affordable version of its S1 after the Pro and S1 -- S1 Air. The S1 Air brings electric scooters at an affordable price range. At an introductory price, it is tagged at Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom). With S1 Air, there are changes which make this scooter more affordable.
The design has changed from its sibling with more use of black along with a traditional pillion grab rail along with a simpler seat. That said, it gets a flat floorboard while in terms of colours, you do get five options to choose from. Storage space has reduced slightly over the S1 and the S1 Pro. To cut costs, there are drum brakes available with no disc even as an option.
The good news is that features are not cut as you get the same touchscreen TFT display, smartphone connectivity, and ride modes. With MoveOS 3 software, hill hold, different profiles, vacation mode and more.
The biggest change obviously is a smaller 2.5kWh battery pack along with a hub-mounted motor with an output of 4.5kW. The range is about 101 km while the top speed is a respectable 90kmph.
A typical home charge takes around 4.5 hours while deliveries will start from 2023 along with the fact that you can reserve one today with the payment window opening in Feb 2023.
We think the Air is much cheaper and has better value while going down on performance along with a few features. Hence, for those who do not need the extra performance, the lower price makes more sense and makes a bigger competition for petrol scooters at this price.
The question is whether you should spend a bit more for the S1 or save for the Air- that depends on your priorities and the usage for which you would want to buy an electric scooter.
