Hyundai Alcazar 2024 Facelift Review: Interior Upgrades And New Features You Can't Miss

The new Alcazar has a lot more technology and features while it also looks better with clear differentiation

Hyundai have finally launched the new Alcazar in India and sometime back we were a part of the select media which were given a preview of this new three-row SUV. The new Alcazar as before is based on the Creta but this time, the changes are bigger to differentiate it from its sibling even more. Launched at a price of Rs 15 lakh, the new Alcazar comes with two engine options. Here is our first look.

Exteriors

Unlike the older Alcazar, there are bigger differences between the Creta and the Alcazar. There is a different grille, DRL design and bumper for the Alcazar. Even the Hyundai logo is placed differently. It has a bigger front bumper which gives it more presence while the grille is divided into two parts. It is longer and sits on bigger 18-inch wheels while the rear styling too has a larger rea bumper and new connected tail-lamps along with exhaust tips. It is longer and bigger now plus importantly looks premium. Amongst the nine colours including a matte option, the new Alcazar looks the best in this Robust Emerald Pearl. Paint finish is high quality and it feels well built.

Interior

Step inside and compared to the Creta, there is a new dual-tone upholstery but more differentiation would have been better. That said, it gets the same Creta like dual screens joined together but there is a touch type AC panel. The dual-tone Noble brown and haze navy color scheme does make the cabin more upmarket while differentiating it from the Creta. While some features are similar to the Creta including the 360 degree camera, dual zone climate control or the powered drivers seat the Alcazar has some additions like a digital NFC key where your mobile or a smartwatch is used to lock or unlock the car.

The rear seat is the talking point and here, from the previous Alcazar, space has improved a bit while the seats are more comfortable. We had a preview of the 6-seater version with the second row captain seats. Here, you get manually adjustable seats plus ventilation function and extended leg rest for added comfort. Further features include a wireless charging pad here for the rear seat and also adjusting the front passenger seat electrically from the rear. Like the previous Alcazar it gets inbuilt tables along with a cupholder while there is no fixed console between the seats which leaves for space to get to the third row. Plus there are larger headrests for the second row passengers too. The third row lacks space though and is best used for short journeys.

Engines

The Alcazar as standard will get one petrol engine unlike the Creta with a turbo petrol 1.5l engine with 160PS and 253Nm. Plus standard there is a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT with paddle shifters. There is a 1.5l diesel too which has similar figures to the Creta with 115PS and 250Nm. Other than a 6-speed manual there is a 6-speed torque converter too. The car comes with drive modes (Normal, Eco, and Sport) and traction modes (Snow, Mud, and Sand), paddle shifters, and Idle Stop and Go (ISG) feature.

Verdict

The new Alcazar has a lot more technology and features while it also looks better with clear differentiation. For either a chauffeur driven SUV or a self driven one, the Alcazar in its new avatar offers a lot but its diesel engine has less power than its three row rivals. That said, it is now a better all-rounder for being a three-row SUV in this hotly contested space.
